'Las Vegas part two'? NY man arrested for threat

NYC Man Arrested For Threatening Las Vegas Part 2

The spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Brooklyn, N.Y., John Marzulli said, the 34-year-old Victor Casillas from Brooklyn, N.Y. has been arrested by F.B.I. agents on Tuesday night in midtown Manhattan.

According to the criminal complaint against him, Casillas signed up with a company that makes an app which "allows users to review and obtain promotional sales offers from various retailers". Around 400 employees are working for the company, the app has been downloaded over 22 million times. The company locked accounts that it believed belonged to Casillas following suspicions that he was using them to fraudulently acquire credits, which can be redeemed for money. In early 2017, the company tried to resolve the dispute by paying Casillas $40 and closing related user accounts.

That's when they say he grew angry and started sending threatening emails to staff.

Victor Casillas of Midtown was charged with threatening a Las Vegas-style shooting against a Denver-based Internet company.

Two days later, the company received a message listing seven of its employees' names and saying that the writer was in Colorado.

Victor Casillas was arrested Tuesday after he repeatedly warned the company via email he meant to murder at least three employees, whom he referenced by name, before invoking the recent Vegas massacre that left 58 people dead and over 500 injured.

"Please tell loved ones to start picking out a nice lovely casket and plan a decent funeral", he allegedly threatened.

Law enforcement were able to track Casillas back to New York City using his IP address Global Positioning System location.

Casillas faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, Reid reports.
