No Rohingya Muslim refugee should be deported until November 21

Don't deport Rohingya refugees, human rights must be kept in mind, says Supreme Court

The Supreme Court today chose to give a detailed and holistic hearing from November 21 on the contentious issue of government's decision to deport Rohingya Muslims to Myanmar.

The Indian government had earlier told the apex court that besides being a security threat because of links to the ISI and the IS, Rohingyas will exhaust natural resources meant for Indian citizens resulting in hostility and social tensions. The issue involves human rights of many'.

News agency ANI quoted the SC bench as saying that national importance can not be secondary and at the same time, the human rights of the Rohingyas should be kept in mind.

"We can't ignore old women and children among Rohingyas..."

A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra has asked both parties to compile all documents and global conventions for assisting the court. "If you (Centre) take any kind of contingency plan, you need to inform this court", the court told Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the government.

In last hearing on October 3, the Supreme Court said that it will examine all the issues involved in the moves to deport Rohingya refugees back to Myanmar and urged the rival parties to address the issue on the strength of law shunning emotional arguments.

Turkish Armed Forces establishing control in Syria's Idlib
Turkey is carrying out its duties in line with rules of engagement agreed with Russian Federation and Iran, it added. The fourth de-escalation zone includes Idlib but also parts of the neighbouring Latakia, Hama and Aleppo regions.

In a strongly-worded observation, the Supreme Court reminded the government that it has multiple responsibilities, and must balance national and humanitarian values.

There are an estimated 40,000 Rohingya refugees in the country, a large number of them living in squalid camps in Jammu, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan.

The letter further states that the Indian government's justification to deport Rohingya Muslims "is premised on the false assumption that all Rohingya people present a potential threat to national security".

Girl Scouts Say Thanks, But No Thanks
The Girl Scouts learned back in January that the Boy Scouts were considering opening their ranks to girls, Margosian said. Girl Scout officials have suggested the BSA's move was driven partly by financial problems and a need to boost revenue.

Rohingya Muslims are a minority in Myanmar's Rakhine where government forces have allegedly carried out summary executions, serial rapes and burned down entire villages.
