Uber Seeks More London Negotiations as It Appeals License Ban

Uber has launched an appeal against a decision to ban it from operating in London

It said in a statement it was hoping to "continue having constructive discussions with Transport for London".

"I fully support TfL's decision - it would be wrong if TfL continued to licence Uber if there is any way that this could pose a threat to Londoner's safety and security".

Last month, Transport for London (TfL) refused Uber a new private hire licence, saying the ride-hailing firm was not fit and proper.

New Orleans cop dies in line of duty, mayor says
Authorities say only one officer was injured and transported to UMC where he later died. Following the shooting, the 30-year-old suspect ran into a nearby apartment building.

Uber confirmed that it filed an appeal with the Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.

A judicial office spokesman said a hearing was likely to take place on 11th December.

"As our new CEO (Dara Khosrowshahi) has said, we are determined to make things right". However, Uber's cars will remain available until the legal process is exhausted - potentially a year or more.

Devils burn the Leafs 6-3 in Toronto
The Devils' offensive run in the second period was enough to support him, led by two goals from Miles Wood and Pavel Zacha. Tied 2-2 after 20 minutes, the visitors scored twice in the second period despite being outshot 17-12.

The talks were described by both sides as "constructive". The licence decision had cited concerns including Uber's approach to reporting criminal offences, how it conducted medical and criminal checks on drivers, and whether software employed to evade regulation was being used in London. Khosrowshahi apologized for "the mistakes" the company had made.

Uber hired Khosrowshahi from USA travel group Expedia in August, in the hope that he can steer the ride-sharing service away from the string of controversies.

If Uber loses its appeal, 40,000 jobs will be on the line and although Uber and Londoners believe the company should be allowed to stick around, other members of the UK Government disagree.

Khan, a politician from the opposition Labour Party who is also chairman of TfL, has long criticised Uber's British management and backed the regulator's decision on Thursday. A petition launched by Uber to protest TfL's decision has gathered more than 800,000 signatures.
