Israel strikes Gaza, no injured

The strikes on the Gaza Strip come after Palestinians spent Thursday protesting against the USA government's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

The IDF said the strikes were in retaliation for Palestinian rocket attacks that failed to reach Israeli territory, according to the Times of Israel.

At around 6:30 pm sirens sounded in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council in the northwestern Negev.

The rockets were fired on Thursday evening as Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank protested the announcement on Wednesday by U.S. President Donald Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh called for a "Day of Rage" leading up to the protests. In the blast and its aftermath, 12 members of the terrorist group were killed, along with two Hamas operatives.

Around two hours later the army said that another rocket, fired form the enclave's north, exploded in southern Israel.

Trump also said the United States would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, though he set no timetable for that.
