Salma Hayek Says Harvey Weinstein Sexually Harassed And Threatened To Kill Her

Salma Hayek

After Weinstein said yes to making the film, she wrote, "It would become my turn to say no".

When contacted by CNN, Weinstein's representatives did not immediately have a response to Hayek's story.

He coaxed her into doing a full-frontal nude sex scene in Frida, she says - even though it wasn't in the script. "I confess, lost in the fog of a sort of Stockholm syndrome, I wanted him to see me as an artist".

After she rejected his numerous demands, Hayek said that Weinstein, "in an attack of fury", told her, "I will kill you, don't think I can't", before saying that he would offer the role to another actress.

"Until there is equality in our industry, with men and women having the same value in every aspect of it, our community will continue to be a fertile ground for predators", she added.

The latest is actress Salma Hayek, who detailed her harrowing experience with Weinstein while working on the critically successful 2002 film Frida. Hayek's co-star Judd went on the record to the Times for an October 5 bombshell story where she claimed to have been harassed by Weinstein. On another occasion, Hayek writes, Weinstein began "physically dragging me out of the opening gala of the Venice Film Festival, which was in honor of Frida, so I could hang out at his private party with him".

Shazam, A Large Source Of Referrals For Spotify, Is Acquired By Apple
In a move that totally makes sense for the brand, Apple has confirmed it acquired the music and image recognition service Shazam. Its app has a single goal : identify a song that's playing and connect users to a service to download or stream it.

Once partnered together, Weinstein made constant, inappropriate requests - requests that we've now heard from so many voices - such as him showing up at her hotel room at all hours of the night and expecting admittance, showering with him or watching him shower, massages, and other sexual acts. "Hayek said that when she went to film the scene, ". for the first and last time in my career, I had a nervous breakdown".

Weinstein eventually held the future of the film over her, according to Hayek.

"All I knew of Harvey at the time was that he had a remarkable intellect, he was a loyal friend and a family man", Hayek wrote about her early impression of the studio exec. "No to letting him give me oral sex", she said.

Indianapolis to host 2021 NBA All-Star Game, Cleveland misses out
This will mark the first time IN has hosted the event since 1985, when the game was held at the Hoosier Dome. Perhaps the National Basketball Association expects the 2021 event in a refurbished Fieldhouse.

Hayek joins a long list of Weinstein accusers that includes Ashley Judd, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie in addition to Rose McGowan, who accused Weinstein of raping her two decades ago. Even now, after scores of women have made similar claims about Weinstein's alleged sexual misconduct-to the point that the once-powerful producer has been driven out of Hollywood-Hayek believed that no one would be interested in hearing her story. Still, she says she cried so much on set that day that it was "as if I were throwing up tears".

When the film was completed, Hayek claimed Weinstein only begrudgingly gave it a tiny release, in two theaters in NY and Los Angeles, despite its very high audience test score.

"Frida" would go on to be a commercial success and earn six Oscar nominations for Miramax, including a best actress nod for Hayek's portrayal of Khalo.

Congrats! John Stamos and fiancée Caitlin McHugh expecting first child
Stamos told People that the engagement took place after the pair found out they would be parents. Previous year the actor said Caitlin had even won over his Fuller House co-stars.

Hayek's account of Weinstein's harassment and intimidation tactics falls in line with the multitude of women who have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault.
