Committed to work for India's NSG tag: United States envoy

American envoy to India slams Pakistan says US looking to secure NSG membership for India

"We (Us and India) have a strong mutual interest in eliminating this threat to our societies".

Kenneth Juster, the US Ambassador to India feels that India should capitalise on American companies trimming their businesses in China - that provides them an alternative investment hub in this country. "We are working with partners to secure India's Nuclear Suppliers Group membership", Juster said describing India as a "leading power" in the Indo-Pacific region. Accordingly, some companies are downgrading their operations there, while others are looking with great interest in alternative markets.

He also said "America First and Make in India" were "not incompatible" and that both can "create jobs" in both countries. "India and the USA have a stake in the security and stability of Afghanistan".

Federal government awards San Diego $20 million for the homeless
On the other hand, the report said, veteran homelessness decreased 4.1 percent and chronic homelessness decreased by 35.9 percent. The agency reported that 553,742 people in the USA experienced at least one night of homelessness previous year .

He also added that "we can have more points of convergence than divergence but the only way to try to make that happen is to constructively build something on our part that China sees benefit to be a part of". But he nevertheless underlined the important role that Pakistan too has in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan. Mr. We can advance these objectives in several ways, which we expect to discuss this spring in our new 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue and incorporate in a roadmap to drive action on both sides, " said Juster.

The defence and security relationship, he said, was underpinned by cooperation in counter-terrorism and on strategic convergences.

"We need to continue to enhance the sharing of information, designations of terrorists, combating of financial crimes and networks, and disruption and dismantling of terrorist camps and operations both regionally and globally", Juster said. But the U.S. complains that India still has many protective barriers in place, should deepen economic reforms and take steps to narrow its $30 billion trade deficit with the US.

Talking about India's NSG aspirations, the envoy said India is celebrating its membership in two of the four multilateral export control regimes - the Wassenaar Arrangement on dual-use items, which India just joined, and the Missile Technology Control Regime - more might be coming.

"We want to promote respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, guarantee freedom of navigation over flight and commerce and other lawful uses of the sea, ensure territorial and maritime disputes are resolved peacefully consistent with worldwide laws", he added. On China and the new global philosophy, Juster said, "Our strategy in the Indo-Pacific is an affirmative strategy. we want to have a constructive relationship with every country in the region. with mutual respect, that does not infringe on the sovereignty of other countries. we want to have a constructive relationship with the Chinese".

However, the United States on Tuesday made its stand clear that the aid to Pakistan has only been suspended not cut-off, as it wanted the country to take an aggressive approach in eliminating terrorism.
