Defense Minister Reminds US of Iran's Decisive Responses

A United Nations Security Council meeting on Friday to discuss recent protests in Iran turned into criticism of the United States for requesting to meet on what some member states said was an internal issue for Tehran.

"The Iranian regime's contempt for the rights of its people has been widely documented for many years", said Haley, adding that the United States stood "unapologetically with those in Iran who seek freedom for themselves, prosperity for their families, and dignity for their nation".

"They damaged us during these days, they know there will be some sort of retaliation", he said, the Times reported.

22 people have died in the unrest in more than 80 cities since late December.

Syrian army breaks siege of army base near Damascus
After the airstrikes, Israel fired a flurry of surface-to-surface missiles against the same Syrian base from Israeli territory. Meanwhile, SANA reported that rebel shelling of the capital killed five people and wounded 30 others on Tuesday.

The United States has rejected Tehran's claims that Washington or USA intelligence agencies have been behind the protests.

Khamenei in his remarks blamed the protests on Iran's enemies.

In a tweet, Khamenei repeated accusations - rejected by the USA and other governments - that foreign countries including the United States and its allies were behind the protests.

In a series of tweets from his official account, Khamenei accused Iran's adversaries of supporting the rallies. "Once again, the nation tells the US, Britain, and those who seek to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran from overseas that 'you've failed, and you will fail in the future, too'". "Regarding the recent events, there have been various analyses", said Khamenei.

New SIT to probe 186 anti-Sikh riot cases, Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Wednesday reopened the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, which was closed earlier by a Special Investigation Team . The apex court perused the report of the supervisory body which was submitted before it in a leather box with number lock system.

While Khamenei has acknowledged legitimate demonstrations against economic conditions, he criticized Trump's Twitter support for those Iranians "trying to take back their corrupt government" and appeared to enter the debate over recent, controversial allegations about the mental health of the president, who insisted Saturday he was "a very stable genius". He claimed the MKO had been "hired as minions for this plot". "There is a correct point commonly made: that is, separating people's honest and rightful demands from the violent and vandalizing moves by a certain group".

The U.S.is utterly angry; they're not only angry at this humble person. The Iranian establishment was born by these people; it's for the people and relies on them.

Russia's UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said the United States was abusing the Security Council's platform and the meeting was an attempt to use the current Iranian situation to undermine the Iran nuclear deal, which the USA administration opposes.
