French President Emmanuel Macron says he will push a new law aimed at clamping down on fake news, saying he hopes to have it in place by the end of the year.

Mr Macron's announcement follows his own presidential election campaign previous year being plagued by Russian hackers and pseudo-journalists.

'We have made a decision to move towards an evolution of our legal system to protect the democratic life from false news.
