Hoda Kotb named permanent replacement for Matt Lauer on Today

Hoda Kotb right was promoted to co-anchor of the Today show on Tuesday nearly five weeks after the firing of Matt Lauer. Co-anchor Savannah Guthrie made the announcement at the top of the show on Tuesday

Kotb had filled in as Savannah Guthrie's co-host since the morning Lauer's firing was announced.

The announcement of her appointment as Lauer's permanent replacement was made early Tuesday by Andy Lack, chairman, NBC News Group.

Guthrie, who joined NBC News in 2007, was named Lauer's co-anchor in 2012 after Ann Curry was unceremoniously ousted from the program. ABC News' Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts, however, are the first female pair to co-anchor a morning program, when they worked together from 2006-2009.

Ambedkar, called for a "peaceful Maharashtra shutdown" on Wednesday to express anger over the Pune incidents. The Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, a Dalit party headed by Prakash Ambedkar - the grandson of Bharat Ratna B.R.

"I'm pinching myself", Kotb said after the program's opening".

"It's 2018 and we are kicking off the year right because Hoda is officially the co-anchor of Today", Guthrie happily announced on Today Tuesday morning. "She has the rare ability to share authentic and heartfelt moments even the most hard news circumstances".

However, it is uncommon to have two women as the primary anchors for a morning show. "It's a tribute to her wide range and her innate curiosity", Lack said. But it's a logical move for NBC, especially in the wake of Lauer's abrupt exit amid complaints about inappropriate sexual behavior at work. She started her broadcast career in local news, anchoring and reporting for stations in New Orleans and Fort Myers.

Rockets get past Lakers in double overtime to end losing streak
Harden finished with 40 points and 11 assists, and said he felt his hamstring pull as he drove toward the basket. The Lakers' counter - another three-point attempt by Kuzma, who made five-of-eight in regulation - didn't fall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, SUNY Oswego alum Al Roker and Orange Room host Carson Daly will continue in their roles on the "Today" show.

The question of who would replace Lauer, 59, the biggest star of morning television with a almost 21-year run anchoring Today, swirled over the last month. She also hosts a program on Sirius XM satellite radio.

Gifford and other NBC News luminaries quickly offered their congratulations on Twitter.
