The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its 100th satellite, the Cartosat-2 Series satellite, on Friday morning from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C40), which is undertaking its 42nd mission, will carry "Cartosat-2", a weather observation satellite and 30 other satellites.

The 31 satellites include three Indian satellites and 28 satellites from six foreign countries - Canada, Finland, France, Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The total weight of all the 31 satellites carried on-board the PSLV-C40 is about 1323 kg.

NBC to Politicize Super Bowl by Televising National Anthem Protests
The Patriots will be facing off against the Tennessee Titans, who fought through a tough game against the Kansas City Chiefs. That will set up a Pittsburgh-Minnesota Super Bowl, and that's a rematch of Super Bowl IX.

Today's launch comes after the unsuccessful mission of navigation satellite IRNSS-1H in 2017.

"The PSLV has performed well in the past with several successful launches", said A.S. Kiran Kumar, ISRO's chairman, in a story published by the Bangalore Mirror. While the department of space has been speaking about allowing private players to build rockets in future, which is expected to increase the frequency of launches, Sivan said: "We're already in the process of moving it to the industry and it will take some time for it to materialize". It has 31 co-passengers, including the Cartosat-2.

A solid-fueled third stage and liquid-fueled fourth stage will complete the task of placing the satellites into orbit, with separation of Cartosat 2F - the mission's prime payload - scheduled for T+plus 17 minutes, 18 seconds.

The Cartosat-2 satellite is the seventh in a series of remote-sensing satellites. The images will be used for cartographic applications, urban and rural applications, coastal land use and regulation, road network monitoring, water distribution, creation of land use maps among other things.

At two hours, 21 minutes and 62 seconds, this will be the longest flight of the four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).
