Las Vegas gunman emailed about bump stocks months before rampage-documents

Documents released on Las Vegas shooting

A federal judge in Nevada unsealed hundreds of pages of FBI documents about the Las Vegas massacre Friday, giving new insight into the gunman and the months leading up to the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.

The details suggesting the attack may have planned months in advance were part of more than 300 pages of search warrants unsealed by a federal judge in Nevada on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times, one of several publications that sought release of the documents.

An investigator works in the room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino where a gunman opened fire on a music festival, in Las Vegas.

The pages of documents made public Friday after lawsuits filed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and other media outlets include requests from investigators for information found on social media accounts linked to Paddock and Danley. Three phones were found in the room where Paddock died, two of which investigators were able to search, but one that they could not unlock.

China is also seeking to have parts or the river dredged or rapids cleared so that large cargo ships can navigate. China and Cambodia have signed almost 20 deals on the sidelines of the Lancang-Mekong Summit.

An FBI agent tells a judge in warrant documents made public Friday that Marilou Danley wasn't arrested when she returned to the US from the Philippines days after the October 1 shooting, and that she was cooperating with investigators. "With the shooter dead and no indication that co-conspirators were involved, authorities have no legitimate reason to lock down records related to their investigations".

The girlfriend of the gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history told authorities they would probably find her fingerprints on bullets because she sometimes helped him load ammunition magazines.

The Los Angeles Times reported that investigators are not sure why Paddock would send emails between accounts he controlled, or whether one was controlled by another person, which would mean, "investigators need to determine who was communicating with him about weapons that were used in the attack", one of the warrants said.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Breault in Las Vegas said late Friday she could not comment about Danley or the investigation.

Paddock unleashed a rain of bullets into a crowd at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay.

They also show that agents sought the email, Facebook and Instagram accounts of Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who was in the Philippines during the October 1 shooting. Investigators say they suspect he may have been emailing himself, but couldn't figure out why.

Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation say Paddock acted alone and killed himself. Police searched Paddock's room, his vehicle, and two homes he owned in Reno and in Mesquite, Nevada, where they found a cache of weapons.

The newspaper also said investigators identified an email inbox belonging to Paddock that contained a message from a Gmail account officials believe was related to Paddock's preparations for the attack.
