Sixers lose big lead, fall to Celtics 114-103 in London

Jaylen Brown throws down a slam dunk during the Boston Celtics session on Wednesday

Not only did the Celtics blow out the Cavs in their last meeting at TD Garden, they came within two points of knocking out Cleveland in the season opener in a game in which they lost Gordon Hayward.

It was fine against the 76ers, and they have done it against even better teams, but the Celtics know they are leaving too much to be desired on the court when they put themselves in these far too hard conditions.

Earlier this week, Sixers coach Brett Brown said that the turnover issue was overblown, though it was troubling when it happened as the team has tried to maintain big leads.

On the opposite end at the O2 Arena are another pair of budding young stars who are helping the Sixers emerge from the grim years of "The Process" for the better.

And Joel Embiid, star center of the 76ers, who grew up playing soccer in Cameroon, was chilling with all the soccer players.

Also instrumental in the Sixers' promising start Thursday was Ben Simmons.

J.J. Redick scored a game-high 22 points for Philadelphia, while rookie Ben Simmons hit for 16.

Irving bounced back from a slow start to score 20 points on7-for-20 shooting, and Brown finished with a rather gritty 21-point, 8-for-15 night.

Twitter Claps Back at Ivanka Trump's Praise of Oprah's Golden Globes Speech
Oprah's best friend Gayle King was also moved by her speech and told the Times, "I thought that speech was incredible". She paid tribute to the press and the importance of press freedom as it faced new pressures from the President.

"At the same time this game really matters for them, so it's not just a jaunt to the United Kingdom to chill out and have tea with me!" Boston -2.5 looks a reasonable play. Most recently, Irving was asked for his thoughts on the shape of the Earth shortly after the Celtics touched down in London for a game against the 76ers on Wednesday.

And while Smart's on/off splits revealed a negative differential in offensive rating the past two seasons, a new trend has emerged this season: The are, maybe surprisingly, a better offensive team when Smart is on the floor. He's a great on-ball defender, crowned the "LeBron stopper" thanks to his relative success guarding James. The one blemish there is the Wizards - who beat the C's on Christmas Day in Boston, 111-103. The Celtics won the previous two games on October 20 (102-92) and November 30 (108-97). Serge Ibaka's one game suspension following that Heat loss is also unfortunately timed, as the Raptors begin a tough run of games with this Cavs visit to Toronto. They might be the only team in the league that at certain times during a game they can switch one through five. I was up in a plane today and looked down and realized that the Earth is round.

The Philadelphia 76ers are the league's no. 1 rebounding team this season, averaging 47.8 rebounds per game to the Celtics' 44.5 rebounds per game (11th in the league).

Jaylen Brown (21 points), Jayson Tatum (16) and Marcus Morris (19) were all exceptional for Boston, while JJ Reddick fired early to lead the Sixers with 22 points.

The Lakers do not need to plan for the playoffs.
