'Stop driving… immediately,' Ford tells owners of recalled 2006 Ranger pickups

The automaker urged in a release on Thursday for owners to stop driving the trucks immediately after becoming aware last month of a crash in West Virginia, that happened in July, involving a 2006 Ford Ranger.

Ford said the death happened on July 1 in West Virginia and was reported to the auto maker on December 22. Ford announced that it will send mobile fix teams to owners' homes, tow vehicles to a local dealership for fix, and provide loaner vehicles - all free of charge. All of the other deaths have occurred in Hondas.

Each of the deaths came as the result of inflators manufactured on the same day and installed in 2006 Ranger pickups, Ford said. Takata alongside its USA entity TK Holdings Inc had filed for bankruptcy in June a year ago after it stated that it was recalling over 100 million of its airbag inflators worldwide towards the end of 2019 because they could inflate with too much pressure, spraying metal fragments and cause heavy injuries to its occupants, and sometimes even death.

Software solutions in train to combat computer chip security flaws
Meltdown mainly affects Intel processors, which are used in Mac computers, and ARM-based processors that use Cortex-A75 cores. Microsoft said in a statement Thursday that it is not aware of any of these vulnerabilities being used against its customers.

Japanese auto supplier Takata plans to sell its viable operations to Key Safety Systems, an affiliate of China's Ningo Joyson Electric Corp, for $1.6 billion.

Dealers will fix the trucks at owners' homes or tow them to dealerships for the work, spokeswoman Elizabeth Weigandt said. "It is extremely important that all high-risk air bags are tracked down and replaced immediately", NHTSA spokeswoman Karen Aldana said. A November NHTSA report said about two-thirds of US vehicles recalled have not yet been repaired.

The recalls, which are being managed by NHTSA, are being phased in over the next three years.

Dropbox said to file confidentially for initial offering
Reports suggested Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan will lead the listing, although the company is said to be in talks with more banks. Dropbox isn't confirming the filing of the IPO paperwork, which doesn't require the company to go public by any certain date.

Approximately 34 million vehicles are now under recall for approximately 46 million defective Takata air bags that can explode. The inflators can rupture and send deadly metal fragments into the vehicle.

If your vehicle does have a recall, call your local dealer to schedule the free fix. The automaker then notified NHTSA.

Those candidates were Oakland tight ends coach Bobby Johnson and Southern California offensive coordinator Tee Martin . Gruden received a massive financial commitment from the Raiders, receiving a 10-year, $100 million deal.
