Government Shutdown Avoided with Budget Deal Being Passed by the Senate

They managed to pass a long-term budget deal that will fund the government and end the cycle of stop-gap spending measures. The government shut down for three days earlier this year as Democrats blocked a bill to try and force a compromise on immigration, and Republicans pushed the government to shutter in 2013 as part of a bid to undo Barack Obama's healthcare law. The first, conservative Republicans, worry the increased spending is fiscally irresponsible.

President Donald Trump signed a $400 billion budget deal Friday that ended an hours-long government shutdown.

After the showmanship of a lone senator dragged out the voting process in Congress and led to a brief government shutdown, USA lawmakers on Friday finally did what they had planned to do.

Once known as the party of fiscal conservatives, the Republicans and Trump are now quickly expanding the USA budget deficit and its $20 trillion national debt.

With America back on track with $1 trillion a year budget deficits, it's unsurprising that President Trump made no mention of the national debt or the budget in his State of the Union address.

Price increase at Disney World, Disneyland
At the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, annual pass prices are going up by just under five to just over nine percent. Tickets are cheaper if customers buy multi-day passes, dropping to $44.50 per day for adults getting a 10-day pass.

Angered at the huge spending increases at the center of the budget deal, the senator delayed passage for hours with a demand to vote on an amendment that would keep in place strict caps on spending that the budget agreement would raise. Funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program was also authorized for four additional years, and it included language extending a number of tax breaks for one year. But overall, the odds of the government staying open looked good.

A vote in the House was expected this morning.

"I want people to feel uncomfortable", Paul said. While the government's ability to spend money was set to expire, there were not any immediate effects. With the expiration deadline just three weeks away for the Obama-era program that allows young immigrants living in the USA illegally who were brought to the country as children to remain there, Democrats ultimately did what they earlier said they wouldn't: vote for a long-term budget deal that does not provide a solution for the "Dreamers".

The bill has the support of the White House, which has highlighted both the increase in military funding as well as infrastructure. Really who is to blame?

The brief shutdown came at a sensitive time for financial markets, with world stock markets diving in the past week. Markets barely flinched at the last shutdown in January, but that was before a selloff that started on January 30 amid concerns about inflation and higher interest rates.

More than two-thirds of Republicans in the Senate voted for the spending package early Friday morning after Sen.

"[Pelosi] is always very persuasive but she wasn't trying to persuade", said Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Cedric Richmond.

Senate Republicans have pledged to hold a separate immigration debate this month.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said she would oppose the deal because it does not include protections for the Dreamers, young undocumented migrants brought to the U.S. as children.

"My commitment to working together on an immigration [measure] we can make law is a honest commitment", Ryan said on the floor before the vote.

Ronaldo hits hat-trick as Real and Atletico win
With the visit of PSG in mind, Zidane rested both Gareth Bale and Casemiro to hand starts to Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez. REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane claims Cristiano Ronaldo's drop in form this season has made him hungrier than ever.

But both of Louisiana's USA senators cast votes against the package, decrying the deficit-boosting two-year agreement as reckless spending.
