Rose McGowan's former manager Jill Messick found dead

Film producer Jill Messick shown in 2007 in Los Angeles died Wednesday at age 50 her family says

The Hollywood producer, 50, who was McGowan's manager in 1997 died on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

It was during Messick and McGowan's partnership when the actress claims that Harvey Weinstein raped her in 1997.

At the time, her family explained that Messick, then a junior at her company, was among the first to bring McGowan's story to her superiors. Messick's family noted that she sent the email upon request prior to the New York Times expose that led to dozens of women coming forward with similar stories of sexual misconduct involving Weinstein. In January, Weinstein's attorney published emails from Messick and actor Ben Affleck in an attempt to refute McGowan's claims of sexul assault.

Messick's family also accused McGowan and Weinstein of using her as a pawn in their ongoing public relations battle.

According to the statement, Jill went to her bosses about the alleged incident, but Rose had never used the word "rape" in the conversation. She chose to remain silent, the family added, so as "not to add to the feeding frenzy".

Charity leaders had 'Caligula orgy' with Haitian prostitutes who survived natural disaster
Political instability and a spate of natural disasters in recent decades have left Haiti as the poorest nation in the Americas. A source told the paper a group of Oxfam workers had arranged sex parties at a villa rented by the charity.

The death of Jill Messick, the former exec and producer, is generating an outpouring of reminiscences from people she helped at a time when they were starting out.

After working for McGowan, Messick reportedly joined Harvey and Bob Weinstein's Miramax as a production secretary, despite being informed of the alleged attack.

In the statement, Messick's family stated that she was a supporter of the #MeToo movement, and refused to speak out against McGowan's accusations so that the movement's reputation would not be affected.

Messick's family told the Hollywood Reporter that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been fighting depression for several years.

Messick's family said their loved one had "became collateral damage in an already horrific story".

Kim Jong Un's sister arrives in South Korea for historic visit
She is the first member of the North's longtime ruling family to visit the South since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War. That main speaker would normally be Kim Yong Nam, the head of the delegation and North Korea's ceremonial head of state.

She began producing films and television shows in 1999, and also worked as an executive at Paramount's Lorne Michaels Productions. "Jill was many things, but she was not a liar".

McGowan is promoting her memoir fearless, where she discusses the alleged attack in great detail, and is one of the most prominent advocates in the #MeToo social media movement against sexual harassment.

"The speed of disseminating information has carried mistruths about Jill as a person, which she was unable and unwilling to challenge", a statement from the family to the outlet read.

After Harvey released the email, Messick was "devastated" by his claim that Jill absolved Harvey of the blame. They told Jill that they would handle the situation.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex. Messick's family stresses she earned that job on merit.
