Academy President John Bailey reportedly under investigation for sexual harassment

Bailey speaks at the Foreign Language Film nominees cocktail reception in Beverly Hills California U.S

John Bailey, president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is being investigated by the organization after it received three different complaints of sexual harassment on Wednesday, Variety reported on Friday.

Two weeks after the 90th Oscars and in the midst of Hollywood's sexual harassment reckoning, the head of the Academy is under investigation.

The onslaught against him that began last October led the Academy to take drastic measures against the veteran producer, who had ushered many films to Oscar success, by expelling him for life and implementing a new code of conduct.

Allegedly Palestinian Drives Car Into Crowd in West Bank, Casualties Reported
The motorist was detained shortly after and was being treated for injuries, it said, without elaborating on their cause. The incident came as Palestinians protested across the West Bank and the Gaza border marking 100 days since U.S.

These allegations against Bailey may undermine his post, which some already saw as questionable.

But Bailey's alleged actions put the academy in the precarious position of choosing how to handle potential misconduct at the organization's highest level.

Under the policy, the Academy's Membership and Administration Committee reviews allegations. Variety reports if he were forced to step down, he would be temporarily replaced by Lois Burwell, a veteran makeup artist who is the Academy's vice president, until the next election in July. He is the first "below the line" leader of the Board of Governors since the 1980s.

In a video post on Facebook, he said: "She went back to the hospital in a awful condition where she was in a coma for many days". In their statement, the Nottinghamshire Police said a Home Office post-mortem exam was due to take place.

Bailey, 75, is in his first year as President of The Academy. The 75-year-old, who succeeded Cheryl Boone Isaacs, upset some who questioned whether, as a white man, he was best suited for the Academy after pressure for the institution to diversity its membership.

Bailey's appointment this summer didn't come without controversy.

He is a noted film history buff, and has been invested in the creation of the Academy's new museum now under construction.

On January 31, the CBI had registered an FIR against Modi, his companies, and Choski. On 17 February, CBI had arrested Shetty, a former deputy manager at PNB, and Kharat.
