Apple developing MicroLED device displays

This could be our first look at Apple's new color for its 2018 iPhone X sequels

The iPhone X, Apple's first OLED phone, uses Samsung technology.

While they are saying that OLED displays will be the future of smartphones, at present, it does make devices pretty expensive.

However, tipsters told Bloomberg that the development of MicroLED displays is at an advanced stage, but it will be a few years before Apple adopts it and uses it in its product, as the yield rate is very low due to the complex structure of the material used for the screen. Engineers have since then worked hard on the new technology. The project - code-named T159 - is being headed by Lynn Youngs - an Apple veteran who worked on the displays for the iPhone and iPad. While Apple could be in a position to take the lead on microLED technology before other manufacturers are able to make it viable for mass production, newer technologies could well take over the market before Apple is able to get a hold of the technology.

The deal was confirmed by Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal and Vic Tafur of The Athletic San Francisco. Patterson, a first-round pick in 2013, has been electric with the ball in his hands throughout his career.

Taking a quick trip down memory lane, Apple back in 2006 paid out $100 million to settle a lawsuit with Creative Labs over allegations that the iPod's hierarchical menu structure infringed upon one of Creative's patents. According to Bloomberg, the facility even has a special area for the intricate process of "growing" LEDs. Also, MicroLED technology will be pretty much limited to Apple alone. In 2014, the iPhone maker acquired MicroLED firm LuxVue.

These are not fully functional yet, but the goal is to replace the wearable family's external-sourced OLED technology with in-house-designed MicroLEDs within a couple of generations. The firm's quarterly revenue was up 12.7% compared to the same quarter past year.

Micro-LED is likely to be the next big thing in display technology. The iPhone 8 Plus offers split-screen feature and if the new phone is coming in the said size, Apple will surely give this ability to its new phone.

March Madness: Nevada coach rips off shirt after upset comeback over Cincinnati
The Bearcats fell apart after taking a 65-43 lead and Wolf Pack pounced on the unexpected opportunity to get back in the game. Cody Martin had 25 points, seven assists, six rebounds and no turnovers to lead five Nevada players in double figures.

Apple already makes its own smartphone chips, such as its latest processor the A11 Bionic, which powers the mighty iPhone X. The company has reportedly invested billions in LG to help it boost its OLED production. The report says the move will reduce costs, with an LCD panel available for less than that of an OLED display. Indeed, Bloomberg notes that Apple only recently managed to successfully incorporate a MicroLED display on the Apple Watch.

Share prices of Apple's primary partners - Samsung Electronics Co, Japan Display Inc, and Sharp Corp - fell 1.4 percent, 4.4 percent, and 3.3 percent, respectively. For instance, Apple calibrates iPhone screens to ensure color accuracy.
