The incident, that took place during a search operation, came days after ten ultras were killed in a gunfight with security forces along Chhattisgarh-Telengana border on March two.

If we took back to the past then we can say that in last 11 month around 25 CRPF jawans were killed by a gang of almost 300 Naxals at a construction site in Sukma. We had established our camp there and operations are being launched from there.

Last April, in the biggest Maoist attack on CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh in the last seven years, 25 jawans were killed and six injured in an ambush in the Burkapal area of Sukma. In Chattisgarh alone, in the past one year, there have been 272 Maoist-related incidents, with 58 Maoists killed and an equal number of security forces martyred.

About 300 naxals were killed by security forces in Chhattisgarh over the last two years since 2016, the state's home minister, Ramsewak Paikra told the legislative assembly, The Times of India reported on February 21, 2018.

Officials said the Maoist cadre led by elusive Naxal commander Hidma and his PLGA (Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army) battalion no 1 could be behind the deadly attack. More forces have reached the spot.
