Hit-and-run driver tried to get away — then a man took out a sledge hammer, video shows | Miami Herald

Police arrested the hit-and-run driver, identified as 25-year-old Oleg Maxwell Lagutenko. Although the crash involved several vehicles, no injuries were reported, Miami police said.

One person pulled out a sledgehammer and began breaking the windows.

Several people, including one armed with a sledgehammer, allegedly attacked a fellow motorist suspected of hitting several cars with his SUV before fleeing, according to ABC Miami affiliate WPLG-TV.

The hit-and-run driver in this video, captured on the scene of a crash in downtown Miami, got a lot more than he bargained for.

He said: "Investment is coming back, and so this is very good news for good new for jobs and growth across the economies". Rebounding global business investment would keep global trade growth at about 5 percent this year, the OECD forecast.

The video shows the witnesses yelling at the driver to stop, pounding on his auto and trying to open the doors. They attempt to pull the man from his vehicle, and one even screams, "Don't move". The police said the man was found and taken into custody.

There he was blocked again but still tried to get away, although surrounded by angry bystanders on foot, who couldn't get at him because he'd locked all the doors and windows.

The arrest report added that Lagutenko failed to stop at the crash scene and continued traveling northbound in the southbound lanes along Biscayne Boulevard.

"I'll call the cops and I'll try to chase him down, but, uh, pull out a hammer?" witness Anthony Jimenez said.
