Governor Kim Reynolds says she's planning to meet with Iowa Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix after a video is released showing him apparently kissing a woman in a Des Moines Bar.

Whitver said that an election to replace Dix as majority leader will happen Wednesday.

Witnesses told the website that they recognized Dix - who is married with three children - from recent news of a $1.75 million settlement reached with a former communication staffer for the Iowa Senate Republicans who claimed she was sacked in 2013 over her sexual harassment claims.

Footage shows the 55 year old conservative lawmaker in an "intimate" repose with the mystery blonde woman, before the woman and married politician kiss on the lips.

The website did not identify the woman shown in the video but described her "as a lobbyist for various municipality groups". It says it was recorded March 1.

Iowa Senate President Jack Whitver (R-Ankeny) told the newspaper that he was unaware of any relationship between Dix and the lobbyist, and he declined to comment on the video.

Dix had already been widely criticized by members of his own party for his handling of the sexual harassment problem in the Senate Republican caucus uncovered by a lawsuit brought by a former staffer.

Reynolds said she hoped the majority party leaders could "move on" with the 2018 session in pushing plans to cut taxes, balance the budget and address other priorities would not be impacted by Monday's development.

"First of all, with what little I know", Reynolds said, "I'm certainly disappointed with what I'm hearing". The ex-employee filed a lawsuit several years ago claiming she was sacked after reporting misconduct in the workplace that included the use of sexual language.
