Cracks in the National Super Alliance widened on Sunday following revelations that opposition leader Raila Odinga will not attend a meeting of co-principals on Monday. His comment came as a section of Jubilee leaders dismissed talk that the meeting between the two party leaders complicated Ruto's bid for the presidency in the next general election in 2022.

They said they only learnt of it via the media and demanded a blow-by-blow account of what transpired at Harambee House on Friday last week.

However, at 15 minutes past noon Mr. Odinga's convoy pulled up at the Stoni Athi resort and he was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo.

The former Prime Minister, it is understood, also apologised to his colleagues over the manner in which he had handled the issue.

BJP declares candidates for March 23 RS polls
Meanwhile, in Gujarat , the BJP fielded three candidates on its mandate to counter a possible move by the Congress. The BJP had nominated sitting Rajya Sabha MPs and Union Ministers Parshottam Rupala and Mansukh Mandaviya.

The Jubilee leaders were also quick to allay fears that the new alliance between Kenyatta and Odinga presented a new political matrix in the 2022 elections.

"A man can only take blackmail for so long", the source said.

The co-principals were asked to surrender their mobile phones to their aides before the meeting started, which could be a sign of the growing mistrust within the coalition since Friday's events.

In the election aftermath, about 150 people were killed and Mr Odinga subsequently swore himself in as the "people's president" and refused to recognise election victor, Mr Kenyatta, as head of state.

The Organising Committee led by Economist David Ndii announced that they would give the initiative a chance as opposed to pursuing a parallel path to inclusivity.

ODM has the majority of ward representatives from Nasa affiliate parties.

In a press address, Mr. Ndii hailed President Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga for acknowledging that the country was facing a unity crisis hence the need to commence a healing process.
