On Tuesday morning, Donald Trump fired Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, ending his year-long stay stay in the White House.

On the day that it was announced that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had been ousted by President Donald Trump, it was also reported that Trump's longtime personal aide John McEntee had been escorted from the White House after he was sacked Monday over an "unspecified security issue".

McEntee was sacked and escorted out of the White House Monday, CNN reported, due to difficulties obtaining a permanent security clearance, an issue that has led to the departure of several White House staffers. There were issues with his background clearance, according to the sources.

Other reports indicate an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security "for serious financial crimes" that "are not related to the President" led to McEntee's firing.

In February, it emerged that former White House aide Rob Porter was allowed to remain in a sensitive post despite the F.B.I. learning of serious allegations of domestic abuse from two of Porter's former wives.

McEntee was an early Trump assistant in the presidential campaign. He made sure Trump was prepared when he met with people, delivered messages to the president in the residence portion of the White House. He was a near-constant presence in the West Wing, and was one of a select group of staffers who were often summoned by the President to the White House residence. "We need the help of porven leaders such as Katrina and John to promote the President's growing portfolio of achievements across the country".
