Apple planning to manufacture iPhone 6s Plus in India

Kolkata: Apple has begun trial production of iPhone 6s Plus - one of its highest selling models in India - at the Bengaluru facility of its contract manufacturer Wistron, which may lead to a price correction, two senior industry executives said.

The California-based tech giant had already started local manufacturing of the iPhone SE in India and aims to commence production of the iPhone 6s Plus to encourage locals to make purchasing it at affordable prices. It has set up a new assembly for the production of iPhone 6s Plus. The phone was insulated from the recent price hike thanks to an increase in custom duty on smartphones from 15 per cent to 20 per cent in February. The iPhone 6S Plus will be similarly protected, so here's hoping the brand adjusts the figure accordingly.

Russian Ambassador to U.S. warns of 'consequences' for Syrian missile strike
The Kremlin on Friday claimed that British intelligence forces helped stage the attack on the Syrian town of Douma last weekend. A USA official told Reuters news agency the attacks were aimed at multiple targets and involved Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The iPhone 6s Plus being produced locally will reduce the price for consumers by 5-7 percent, making it an attractive prospect for those that want performance, extended software support and pretty much any other thing that you would want in a device without spending ludicrous amounts of money. The company didn't officially lower the rate of the iPhone SE when it began putting together the handset in India, but online and offline discounts allow the phone to be sold for as low as Rs 18999 nowadays. "Eventually, as the local capacity gains scale the prices will get corrected". But Apple has not hiked the model's price yet.

The report adds that earlier this month, the government imposed a 10 per cent custom duty on components like printed circuit boards populated with memory and chips, camera modules and connectors.

Teachers Remain At Capitol Despite OEA Walkout Announcement
Although lawmakers passed some bills teachers lobbied for last week, lawmakers still refused to meet all of teacher's demands. Labor Education spokeswoman Susan Close said in opposition the Liberals were silent on the $210 million cut from SA funding.

Another way for Apple to cut additional costs would be to make parts and packaging all within India as well.

A customer tries out an iPhone 6s Plus and an iPhone 6s at an Apple Store. However, this may not happen immediately since Wistron won't be able to fully meet the requirements for the iPhone 6S Plus straight out of the gate.
