'Full Metal Jacket' actor R. Lee Ermey (The Gunny) dies at 74

R. Lee Ermey, who gained fame as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, has died at the age of 74.

Following his death at the weekend, a statement was released by his longtime manger, Bill Rogin. "With deep sadness I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermelo died this morning for complications of pneumonia".

It was the flawless role for him, considering he was in the Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1961, serving for 11 years, including 14 months in Vietnam.

"He can be enormously missed by all of us".

Co-accused of Unnao rape case Shashi out on bail
With these resignations, the number of ministers in the state government has come down to 22, including nine from the BJP. The court will monitor the investigation and asked the CBI to file a status report on May 2, the next date of hearing.

But his most memorable interpretation and one that made him world famous is that of grumpy and brutal Sergeant Hartman in metallic jacket, shot by Stanley Kubrick in 1987, in which he tries to convert inexperienced recruits in Marines prepared for combat. He was generous to everyone around him.

Although Ermey identified himself as a political independent, many of his views aligned closely with the Republican party. "There are many Gunny's, but this one was OURS", Rogin said.

Ermey effectively reprised his Full Metal Jacket role in Sir Peter Jackson's 1996 film, The Frighteners, in which he played the ghost of a military drill instructor. And, we will honor his memory with hope and kindness. After that, he served as a technical advisor on Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now, and had an uncredited role in the film.

Ermey was a former Marine Corps sergeant who also served as a drill instructor during his 11-year career with the Corps. Please support your men and women in uniform. "My demeanor happens to be a bit more authoritative and film directors, producers want to capitalize on that".

Palace upend Brighton, move six points clear of relegation
Hodgson's side are now three points clear of the drop zone, although 18th-placed Southampton do have a game in hand. Brighton were beaten at Everton and at home to Leicester before being held by Huddersfield in a 1-1 draw last week.

Ermey's tough-guy persona on television and in movies contrasted his real life. He appeared in more than 55 films, including Roughnecks, X-men 3, Se7en, Mississippi Burning and a remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Ermey ad-libbed about 50 percent of his lines in Full Metal Jacket.

Ermey was born March 24, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, and moved with his family to Toppenish, Washington, when he was 14, where he became a "troublemaker and a bit of a hell-raiser", according to the Civilian Marksmanship Program's online magazine.
