Google loses 'right to be forgotten' case in the UK

"The crime and punishment information has become out of date, irrelevant and of no sufficient legitimate interest to users of Google Search to justify its continued availability, so that an appropriate delisting order should be made", Justice Warby of the High Court said, The Telegraph reported. He claimed that the information was no longer relevant and that it should be deleted. The same judge who sided with the other businessman ruled in favor of Google in this latter case, particularly because the former's case was less serious and he had, in the opinion of the judge, reformed and shown remorse. He had been convicted of conspiracy to intercept communications more than a decade ago, and Google refused to honor his request.

Judges ruled that neither of the men should be identified as part of the case.

In 2014 the European Court of Justice ruled that information about an individual, deemed to be obsolete or irrelevant, should be deleted if requested. It has no control over information on external websites.

The man, referred to publicly only as NT2 since disclosing his name would completely undermine the goal of the court order, demanded that Google remove search results about a past crime that he had committed - conspiring to intercept communications - and for which he had served six months in jail over a decade ago.

But as his own boss, and without anyone to answer to, the rebel chief could change his mind on a whim, "depending on circumstances", Vinueza explained.

"Courts should also consider the context of particular search results".

They contained an announcement for a real-estate auction after he got into debt.

The company's representative, Antony White QC, said that the ruling was "not a right to rewrite history or. tailor your past if that's what this claimant would like to use it for".

It was a surprising shift in tone from the governor, who has repeatedly rejected teachers' demands for a raise and school funding. Ducey did not mention Mesnard's proposal, at least not directly, as he said his plan does not divert other education dollars.

Google has received requests to remove more than 2.4 million links from its search results in Europe since the 2014 ECJ ruling.

Anybody can exercise their right to be forgotten via an online form. However, search engines can decline to remove pages if they judge them to remain in the public interest.

These cover nearly two-and-a-half million URLS, 49.3% of which were deleted. In those circumstances, "the public interest in having information with his name about this case doesn't prevail".

Immediately after the 2014 ruling, the founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales warned that Google must not be left to "censor history", warning that would be "a very risky path to go down".

EPL: Mourinho speaks on Martial leaving Manchester United
Both Martial and Rashford have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford after failing to hold down a first-team place. Martial, 22, has struggled for game time in recent weeks, particularly after Alexis Sanchez's arrival in January.

"We work hard to comply with the right to be forgotten, but we take great care not to remove search results that are in the public interest", the tech giant said in a statement.
