Gronk won't attend start of program

Report Patriots Rob Gronkowski engage in contract talks

The tight end will not be in attendance for the start of the off-season workouts, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gronkowski said after the Super Bowl he was considering his options and has not committed to returning for a ninth National Football League season in 2018.

Since the New England Patriots fell short in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles, there has been much uncertainty surrounding All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski's future. In other years, Brady has been a regular participant at the team's offseason program, but he will miss at least the beginning this year. He's reportedly had "good communication" with the Patriots. He is mulling retirement, and is unsure if he'll play in 2018.

The star tight end is still weighing his options for the 2018 season, Schefter reported.

Gronkowski has a base salary of $8 million this year.

The Patriots open the voluntary portion of their offseason program on Monday.
