Man City cleared of wrongdoing over Benjamin Garre signing

City won the title with five games to spare but will strengthen again before next season

His former club, Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, claim that City approached the player when he was 15 before signing him a few days after he turned 16.

The Citizens stood accused by Velez Sarsfield of "flouting transfer rules" in the signing of attacking midfielder Benjamin Garre.

Manchester City is facing the prospect of a two-window transfer ban but they have been cleared and will not be punished by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, according to Goal.

Liverpool, Manchester United and co. will all be desperately hoping that City are curtailed in their attempts to continue to buy success.

Theresa May grilled in United Kingdom parliament over Syria airstrikes
Despite describing the intervention as "successful", Britain's foreign minister said there were now no plans for further attacks. When pressed, however, he acknowledged that some unspecified portion of Assad's chemical arms infrastructure was not targeted.

He plays wide and possesses both pace and trickery in abundance.

Garre was one of three youth players to train with the men's Argentina squad ahead of their friendly with Russian Federation in Moscow last November.

Were Pep Guardiola not able to invest further in his squad for a whole season it would be a major blow to their hopes of retaining the Premier League title and winning the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Garre moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2016, but the Argentine club filed a complaint with Federation Internationale de Football Association in the September of that year, claiming City broke transfer regulations on approaching under-age players. If they are found guilty however, they would have the right to appeal, which could then delay any transfer embargo. Indeed they stated they acted within the rules.

Giroud told Sky Sports: "I said when I came in, I said to Eden: 'Come on, we need to fight until the end". They have to play for the club, for our fans, and to show great character like they did in this game.

Federation Internationale de Football Association ruled the deal for Garre was above board and hadn't broken the rules, despite allegations from Velez that he was approached before turning 16.

That case has been running since July, with a court case heard nine months ago.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have been subjected to bans for breaching rules around the signing of global players under the age of 18 in recent years.

Velez officials took the Premier League champions and Federation Internationale de Football Association to CAS last summer following the sale of teenager Garre to the Etihad.
