Police 'BLOCK' entrance to sick tot Alfie Evans' hospital as protestors gather

Alfie Evans

Speaking on Friday outside Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, where Alfie is being cared for, Tom Evans said a jet he had chartered to take his son overseas on Thursday night had been stopped by the hospital.

A High Court judge had previously granted doctors at the Liverpool hospital the right to withdraw the 23-month-old's life support in late-February.

Alfie's parents, who are from Liverpool, have already lost fights in the high court, court of appeal, Supreme Court and European court of human rights. We can only imagine what could happen when Alfie receives proper diagnostics and standard humane care, and the parents are prepared to love and care for their son in any case.

Mr Evans said an appeal would be heard on Monday and the family hoped to go to Italy for treatment next week.

On Thursday night, police were called after hundreds of protesters gathered outside Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Markets surged in response in Asia, Europe and also in the US , where the Dow jumped 300 points before the opening bell Tuesday. Russian assets extended Monday's slide as investors digested the new round of US sanctions targeting the country's tycoons.

They say the court order would end at the point the hospital removes ventilation from Alfie, at which moment they will take over and fly him to Rome.

Footage posted online showed Mr Evans and Ms James receiving huge applause as they joined the crowd of protesters who were chanting the youngster's name.

The statement read: "Following the filing of an appeal yesterday, the court order to stop Alfie Evans' life support has been stayed until the appeal can be heard on Monday".

One document, a letter from the Christian Legal Centre, said that given the medical professionals, transport, and life support equipment the family had prepared, "such a removal would be lawful under English law".

"I have a documentation saying that I have the right to take my son out of this hospital", Evans says in the video. "Alder Hey has phoned the police to stop me from taking my son out of the hospital", Evans continued.

Ryan's plans have been the source of much speculation and will set off a scramble among his lieutenants to take the helm. They had conversations about criminal justice reform and ways to make poverty temporary instead of just tolerable.

During the clip of about two and a half minutes he also encouraged people to come to the hospital to stand outside and "tell them to release our son" in a "quiet protest".

He added: "We want to know why they are fighting so hard and what are they trying to hide". Look how innocent the boy is, look at him, he lies there eagerly waiting for his trip home.

Alfie has been treated on an undiagnosed degenerative brain disease since 2016.

The day after a judge told the hospital it could remove Alfie from a ventilator, Alfie's family came to the hospital with a medical team to move him to a hospital that is willing to continue his care. The judge described Alfie's life as "profoundly unfair" but accepted medical evidence that showed further treatment was futile.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers are at to monitor a peaceful protest tonight, Thursday 12 April".
