President Trump Sparks Social Media Backlash With 'Mission Accomplished' Tweet

Hundreds of Syrians are demonstrating in a landmark square in the Syrian capital waving victory signs and honking their car horns in a show of defiance

The U.S., United Kingdom and France launched strikes on Syria a week after U.S. President Donald Trump said there would be a "big price" to pay for the apparent use of chemical weapons by President Bashar al-Assad's forces in the town of Douma, an attack that killed scores of civilians.

And that risk doesn't only exist because the U.S. -France-U.K. strikes in response to Syria's apparent use of chemical weapons in Douma last weekend lasted just 17 minutes. There will be more.

Trump had said Friday that the U.S. is "prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents".

"So this was very strong attack on the chemical weapons program", she said.

"You will see that Russian sanctions will be coming down", said Haley, reiterating what she said earlier on Fox News.

"We will watch his actions. Hopefully he's gotten the message". It also followed the purported use of chemical weapons there on April 7, which activists say killed over 40 people in the town and led to Saturday's airstrikes by the West.

"The United States and its allies have no proof and, without even waiting for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to take a position, have carried out this military attack. and are responsible for the regional consequences", said foreign ministry spokesperson Bahram Ghasemi.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the US-led missile attack on Syria would lead to more destruction in the Middle East, according to Iran's Tasnim news agency.

They are country music's power couple and have incorporated newer artists on their album, "The Rest of Our Lives" such as Meghan Trainor and Ed Sheeran.

"We all know our work in Syria is not done", she said.

The UK foreign secretary, Boris Johnson, speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, said it would be "an extra" if the strikes led to Russian Federation putting pressure on Assad to negotiate, but he said the strikes had been created to deter and degrade Syria's ability to use chemical weapons rather than change the course of the civil war. "We can't control what a country does to its people".

It is still unclear how effective the strikes will be against Syria's regime. -Russian relations are at a low point.

"With the political and diplomatic actions that we're taking now, we wanted their friends Iran and Russian Federation to know that we meant business and that they were going to be feeling the pain from this as well", she said.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson defended the government's decision to join the USA and France in the airstrikes in Syria, arguing that lawmakers' approval was not sought due to the speed and the efficiency of the operation.

"Our job was never to take Assad out", Haley said, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The strikes "successfully hit every target" and the allies "took every measure and caution" to only hit the intended targets, White said Saturday morning.

A total of 105 missiles were launched in the strikes, according to the Pentagon.

Ahead of the latest strikes, Haley signalled in the security council on Friday that any action by Washington would not only be in response to the attack in Douma.

The cool down continues into Friday with lows in the mid-40s and Friday afternoon highs in the upper-60s. A warm Saturday locally can help support at least borderline severe storms with strong wind gusts.

In 2013, President Putin and his government promised the world that they would guarantee the elimination of Syria's chemical weapons.

US defense officials say they have high confidence chlorine gas was used and are still assessing evidence indicating the presence of sarin gas.

The strike on Syria does not represent a change in USA policy in Syria, senior administration officials revealed Saturday.

Haley's warning comes after American, British and French forces fired over one hundred missiles at the Arab country on Saturday.

She also acknowledged Sunday that relations between the USA and Russian Federation, an Assad supporter, are "very strained".

Russian news agencies reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a phone call, told Iranian President Hassan Rouhani there would be chaos in worldwide relations if there are further Western strikes on Syria.
