U.S. says has proof Syria carried out chemical weapons attack

Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, urged the United States on Thursday to avoid military action, saying the "immediate priority is to avert the danger of war".

He accused Washington of putting worldwide peace at risk and said the situation was "very dangerous". But a Russian newspaper reported that the United States had been coordinating with Russia to avoid hitting its troops and would provide a list of targets before a strike to avoid escalating conflict between the world's two largest nuclear powers.

Trump met with members of his National Security Council on Thursday to discuss the US's options with regards to Syria.

The Russian military said its chemical experts visited Douma shortly after the alleged attack and found no trace of chemical agents in ground samples.

A French frigate, British Royal Navy submarines laden with cruise missiles and the USS Donald Cook, an American destroyer equipped with Tomahawk land attack missiles, have all moved into range of Syria's coast.

But France's United Nations ambassador Francois Delattre told the council that in choosing once again to use banned chemical weapons against civilians, Assad's regime had "reached a point of no-return". "We are continuing to assess intelligence and are engaged in conversations with our partners and allies".

Worldwide chemical weapons experts were travelling to Syria to investigate an alleged gas attack by government forces on Douma which killed dozens of people. It was not clear whether the presence of the investigators could affect the timing of any US military action.

Yulia Skripal turns down Russian help as she recovers from poisoning
Yulia was discharged from Salisbury District Hospital this week while her father remains in the hospital. Lavrov said the report does nothing to back the British allegations that Moscow was behind the attack.

Russia's foreign minister has asserted that a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma last weekend was fabricated with the help of an unspecified foreign intelligence agency.

McInerney says the region is also more complex as a result of the Obama administration pulling the US out of Iraq entirely and failing to honor the red line it set for chemical weapon use in Syria.

But the Violations Documentation Center (VDC), which records alleged violations of worldwide law in Syria, said bodies were found with oral foaming, cyanosis, and corneal burns.

As fears of a Russia confrontation with Western powers mount, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his "deep concerns" over the situation in Syria in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Why risk war with Russian Federation in Syria, when, by our own inaction during this seven-year civil war, we have shown we have no vital interest there?

They agreed to "keep working closely" on the issue, Mrs May's office said in a statement. It also said Russian officers found no patients with chemical attack symptoms at a local hospital, and no indication of any burials of victims.

Russia, Syria, and its other main backer Iran, have said reports of the Douma attack were fabricated by rebels and rescue workers and have accused the U.S. of seeking to use it as a pretext to attack the Syrian government.

Future Vezina Trophy victor Pekka Rinne was elite this season, their defence was once again top in the league thanks to P.K. Those numbers aren't bad, but the task at hand is to win four games against the Predators without Semyon Varlamov in goal.

"Certainly for domestic consumption they ve got to look like they re not rolling over for Israel, for the United States or for France or whoever else". Mr Trump wrote on Twitter, raising the prospect that an attack might not be as imminent as he seemed to suggest the day before.

He did not rule out the possibility of a US-Russia conflict, saying Moscow was very concerned with "the risky escalation" and "aggressive policies" that certain governments are making. CGTN's Nathan King reports from the White House. We have to make some further decisions.

"This would be pre-decisional", Mr Mattis told the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee.

Russian Federation has described the reports of a chemical attack as a "provocation" created to justify Western intervention.

Asked whether he was referring to a war between the U.S. and Russia, Nebenzia said: "We can not exclude any possibilities, unfortunately, because we saw messages that are coming from Washington - they were very bellicose".

He added that Russian Federation would "keep all its global obligations in full".
