Harbor Freight Tools recalls 1 million electric chainsaws due to malfunctioning power switch

Harbor Freight Tools are recalling 1,020,000 chainsaws due to a possible power switch malfunction, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Harbor Freight, a business that sells power tools and home supplies, has recalled several different chainsaws after discovering a risky fault.

Harbor Freight says it's received 15 reports of chainsaws continuing to operate after being turned off.

The Chicago Electric features a red and black chainsaw with "Chicago Electric" on the handle. The Portland and One Stop Gardens brand chain saws are green and black and have "Portland" printed on the blades. The model number is printed on a label on the bottom of the chainsaw.

The defective items were sold at Harbor Freights stores and online May 2009 through February 2018 at a price of $50.

Customers who may have this product should return them for a replacement chainsaw, which will be available starting May 21.
