Reid served 30 years in the U.S. Senate and is widely regarded as the most powerful elected official in Nevada history. Arizona Republican Sen. Reid, 78, is now co-chair of the MGM Resorts International Public Policy Institute, along with former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Reid, a Democrat and former Senate majority leader, sponsored or signed onto more than 500 pieces of legislation that later became law and helped choke off funding for a proposed nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain. The Senator opted against running for re-election in 2015; that same year he suffered from a brutal accident that left him blind in one eye. "We are all praying for dear Harry's speedy recovery", he tweeted.
