Iran vows to restart nuclear program if deal collapses

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he would pull America out of a 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran

White House national security adviser John Bolton, who has in the past suggested the US government should push for a change in government in Iran, said on Sunday that is not the Trump administration's current policy.

Minister for trade and export David Parker last week said it was still unclear to the nations who remained in the nuclear agreement what exports or trade were at risk when associating with Iran.

The White House wants intrusive inspections of Iran's nuclear sites to continue despite President Donald Trump's withdrawal from the 2015 agreement on Tehran's atomic program, USA officials have told Agence France Presse.

On Tuesday President Trump announced the USA was pulling out of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and called it disastrous and one-sided.

The nuclear agreement, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was signed in July 2015 between Iran, the European Union, Germany and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council including the U.S. The deal went into force in January 2016.

The exit drew swift criticism from the deal's other signatories, including US allies in Europe who'd tried for weeks to convince Trump to remain on board and said they plan to keep their commitment to the deal.

However, in the last three years, since the sanctions on Tehran were lifted by former USA president Barack Obama, India's crude oil imports from Iran have almost doubled.

German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said Friday Berlin was ready help its firms continue doing business in Iran in the face of looming USA sanctions.

According to the report by Reuters, the price of oil has risen to its biggest weekly gain in the last one month as markets prepared the disruption in oil supplies as the United States renewed its sanctions on major oil exporter and the third largest OPEC member, Iran.

"I don't have many illusions about what the American response will be", Mr. Le Maire said on French radio.

Both Le Maire and Germany's finance minister Olaf Scholz had spoken to their USA counterpart Steven Mnuchin, urging him to consider exemptions or delays for companies already present in the country.

The spokesperson said India would take necessary steps in case the US withdrawal from the JCPOA were to impact Indian projects in the port of Chabahar where India is involved in upgrading and developing infrastructure.
