NY nanny sentenced to life for murdering children in her care

New York City nanny to be sentenced in killing of two children

A New York Metropolis nanny who killed two young children in her care is dealing with life in jail.

Yoselyn Ortega was convicted last month of murder in the 2012 deaths of Lucia and Leo Krim.

The six-woman, six-man jury rejected her defense team's contention that Ortega was mentally unfit and was in a "psychotic" and "dissociative" state when she attacked the children.

"I'm very sorry for everything that happened, but I hope that no one goes through what I have gone through", the 55-year-old Ortega said through tears.

Wilfried Zaha: No plan to leave Crystal Palace
They have dropped 26 points from winning positions this season, the highest tally in the Premier League. The Baggies did put up a fearless fight under Darren Moore , but it was too late for them.

She described how she had then witnessed Ortega stabbing herself in the neck in an apparent suicide attempt.

Vance Jr. said in a statement Monday that Ortega violated the trust of a family in the "most horrific way imaginable" and that "Leo and Lulu will never live the lives that laid ahead of them".

Kevin Krim said his family introduced "Lulu and Leo's law", which will make it a crime to falsify job applications and references for someone working in childcare, to NY state legislature in "direct response" to the case.

Krim had been at a swimming class with her 3-year-old daughter, Nessie Krim. The children were later found in the bathtub when their mother returned home to the bloody apartment.

Trouble mounts for Allahabad Bank CEO after CBI chargesheet in PNB scam
The 47-year-old's high-end eponymous Nirav Modi brand has stores in several of the world's major cities. The chargesheet detailed the alleged role of PNB's former chief Ananthasubramanian in the scam.

Marina and Kevin Krim left the courtroom before the sentence was read.

Ortega had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. "We believe that the 10 Principles of Creativity can help children across this city and this country build the social-emotional skills and resilience to thrive no matter what the world throws at them". But when they arrived, Lulu wasn't there. Each had been stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife, police said.

"I ask for a great deal of forgiveness - to God, to Marina, to Kevin", she said, wearing an oatmeal top and her dark hair scraped back into a pony tail.

At Ortega's trial, Kevin Krim, who had been on a business trip and received news of the children's deaths when his plane landed, spoke of walking down a long hallway at the hospital where he saw their bodies.
