Sunda Evening Update on Subtropical Storm Alberto

Alberto is predicted to move northward at a faster rate after making landfall in the western Florida Panhandle on Monday

As of 5 a.m., the storm was about 125 miles south of Destin, Florida, and moving northwest at about 7 mph.

The center of Alberto is expected to cross into the warning area later Monday afternoon or evening before crossing into the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour and the NHC says it is moving north-northwest at 12 miles per hour.

The Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast are under a tropical storm warning as Alberto approaches the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico.
