Airbus threatens to pull out of United Kingdom if no Brexit deal reached

Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesman responded to the news on Friday by stating: "We are confident that we are going to get a good deal, one that ensures that trade is as free and frictionless as possible, including for the aerospace sector".

Aerospace firm Airbus has warned it could pull out of the United Kingdom with the loss of thousands of jobs at 25 sites across the country in the event of a "no-deal" Brexit.

Almost two-fifths (39%) said they had a "limited" understanding of the issues around the Irish border, while a further fifth (19%) said that they didn't know anything about or hadn't heard of the issue.

European Union leaders, who will meet May at a Brussels summit next week, have warned that time is running out.

Home secretary Sajid Javid says the government's default position will be to grant, not refuse, settled status.

In one of the most significant interventions by a major manufacturer since the referendum two years ago, it published a "risk assessment" on its website saying it would "reconsider its investments in the United Kingdom, and its long-term footprint in the country" if Britain left the single market and customs union without a transition agreement.

"Put simply, a no-deal scenario directly threatens Airbus" future in the United Kingdom'.

Airbus is a major player in the aerospace and defence industry, operating commercial aircraft, helicopters and defence and space branches of its company.

The company directly employs 14,000 people at 25 sites in Britain and supports more than 100,000 jobs in the wider supply chain. The prospect of losing so many jobs has sparked widespread alarm.

'This extremely negative outcome for Airbus would be catastrophic. We have repeatedly warned that the United Kingdom can not take the huge economic risk of cutting ourselves adrift from the Single Market and Customs Union.

Jones said that "thousands of skilled, well-paid jobs are now on the line because of the shambolic mess the Government have created over the Brexit negotiations".

European Union citizens and family members who, by December 2020 - the end of the post-Brexit transition period - will have lived in the United Kingdom for five years continuously will be eligible for "settled status", enabling indefinite residence in the United Kingdom and access to all health care, pensions and other benefits.

This philosopher-monk stressed yoga's rational and scientific qualities in a bid to make the discipline compatible with the West. As awareness about the need for a healthy lifestyle increases, youngsters as well as senior citizens are keen on following yoga.

The period is "too short for Airbus to implement the required changes with its extensive supply chain", it said.

It said if there was no extension it would "carefully monitor any new investments in the United Kingdom and refrain from extending the United Kingdom suppliers/partners base".

"Put simply, a no-deal scenario directly threatens Airbus' future in the United Kingdom", said Tom Williams, chief operating officer of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, on Thursday.

'We have sought to highlight our concerns over the past 12 months, without success.

The government spokesman said it was "working closely with companies to understand their concerns".

Theresa May will listen to the concerns of the aerospace giant Airbus, Downing Street has said, after it confirmed it was considering cutting thousands of jobs in the United Kingdom in the absence of more detail about post-Brexit trading arrangements.
