Asteroid on Collision Course with Earth Breaks Into Pieces Before Impact

On Saturday morning, an asteroid dubbed "2018 LA" that measured an estimated 6 feet across was discovered hurtling toward Earth. As said by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA, the asteroid named 2018 LA burned above the surface of the Earth at a distance of several miles.

"This was a much smaller object than we are tasked to detect and warn about", NASA's Planetary Defense Officer, Lindley Johnson, said in a statement on Sunday.

Paul Chodas of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) at JPL points out that 2018 LA is just the third time that an asteroid has been identified to be on a trajectory for impact.

Discovery photographs captured with the Catalina Sky Survey show asteroid 2018 LA about eight hours before it slammed into Earth's atmosphere and broke up.

Kim summit to be held at Capella Hotel
Singapore's foreign minister will make a two-day trip to Pyongyang starting Thursday just to make sure everything runs smoothly. The notice said airspace over Singapore will be temporarily restricted for parts of June 11, 12 and 13.

It's a rare occasion when an asteroid is spotted on a direct collision course with Earth.

YouTubeNasa's Near Earth Object Centre said that Asteroid 2018 LA was travelling at 27, 738 miles per hour.

Beginning summer 2018 was marked by a rather rare event in Botswana (southern Africa) was hit by an asteroid, the size, presumably from a mountain boulder.

According to NASA, however, about 90 per cent of all asteroids larger than one kilometre have been discovered.

Tech stocks gain as USA confirms ZTE deal
So the United States went nuclear on ZTE, imposing a seven-year ban on USA companies selling technology to the Chinese firm. While the agreement has not been finalized, ZTE has apparently agreed to pay another hefty fine to revive its business.

First, the asteroid crashed into the atmosphere over land, where people could witness it disintegrating as a bright fireball in the sky.

Experts have determined that the most likely crash site of the facility was the southern part of Africa.

Luckily for us, the asteroid was small, as mentioned above, and burnt up in the atmosphere without causing damages. Already near Earth, the researchers calculated its speed - 17 km/s, and could not determine exactly a place to fall - roughly the asteroid was to land in the gap somewhere between South Africa, the Indian ocean and New Guinea.

Only twice before has a small asteroid been detected hours before colliding with Earth. reported that 2008 TC3 was spotted some 19 hours before impact while 2008 TC3 was discovered just a few hours prior. However, the asteroid of 2008 was detected nineteen hours before it struck the sky over Sudan.

Crocodile kills pastor during mass baptism in Ethiopia
Despite huge efforts, fishermen and residents could not save pastor Docho, policeman Eiwnetu Kanko said. They could not capture the crocodile but they managed to use fishing nets to save the deceased's body.

The second event occurred January 1, 2014, when the asteroid 2014 AA was spotted just a few hours before it fell over the Atlantic Ocean. The Catalina Sky Survey has been responsible for discovering all three of these small asteroids on impact trajectories, and all on the watch of the same observer, Richard Kowalski.
