Britain’s richest man offers Roman Abramovich £2bn for Chelsea

Jim Ratcliffe

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has no interest in selling the club, Sky Sports News understands.

According to Daily Mail (UK), Ratcliffe's plans to buy Chelsea might not see the light of the day as his offer was quickly discarded, with the Chelsea owner stating he had no intention to sell the club.

Chelsea's Russian owner is now embroiled in a United Kingdom visa clash with the Home Office, leading to him shelving plans for a new stadium in West London.

Vettel wins, Ricciardo fourth in Montreal
His engine was six races old but Hamilton would have expected better. "He told the flag waver to wave it a lap early". Eventually winning by 7.3 seconds, Vettel took the lead in the championship as Lewis Hamilton came home fifth.

The Russian billionaire has propelled the Stamford Bridge club to become one of Europe's biggest teams during his 15 years in charge, winning five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three league cups, one Champions League and one Europa League titles throughout the period of his ownership.

Ratcliffe was reported to be worth £21billion in the Sunday Times Rich List last month.

Ratcliffe is already the owner of a football club in Switzerland, Lausanne-Sport, and is known to have a personal fortune which sits at more than double that of Abramovich's, as he is valued at £21.05bn compared to the Russian's £9.3bn valuation.

Ratcliffe, who grew up in Manchester, has not previously linked with buying into English football.

Downing Street has made it clear that he cannot work in Britain on his Israeli passport, although he can visit for up to six months at a time.

A plan was in place to demolish Stamford Bridge in two years but last week Abramovich announced that the £1bn redevelopment had been halted in retaliation for the hardline attitude of the Home Office.
