Gmail for Android Gets Customisable Swipe Actions With Latest Update

Gmail for Android

The ability to swipe emails in Gmail has been a joy to use, in Gmail a swipe to the right or left will, by default, archive an email - but what if you want to customise that? Now it's the turn of the Gmail app for Android.

That could be a way bigger deal than it sounds.

Choose your own swipe actions with the latest Gmail for Android

Users can now set what specific function happens when they swipe left or right on an email. For the most part you can't add a new action that didn't exist before, meaning that users will have to choose between actions such as Archive, Delete, Mark as read/unread, Move to, Snooze, or None.

Gmail for Android has supported a swipe gesture within the mobile app for quite some time, but, up until today, it has been severely limited in scope.

Gmail's' new swipe options aren't extremely feature-rich, to be sure, but they're sufficient enough to get certain things done.
