NCAA approves 4-game redshirt rule for college football

NCAA announces transfer redshirt rule changes

Also big? A so-called "redshirt rule" that would allow players to play in any four games during a season and still maintain a full season eligibility (they would still have five years to play four seasons).

This will be effective for the upcoming 2018 season and allows players to play in, say, the first two games of the year and then the regular season finale and bowl game and yet still be counted as a redshirt for eligibility purposes.

Standoffs between athletes and coaches over transfers have often led to embarrassing results for schools standing in the way of players who want to leave.

Some long needed common sense has finally been added to the transfer process by the NCAA.

Justin Trudeau's eyebrow raises a lot of eyebrows
Trudeau has so far not commented on Trump's tirade. "That's going to cost a lot of money for the people of Canada", Trump said. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S.

Transfer candidates previously needed permission to contact other programs.

Even with the new rule, conferences could still restrict athletes from transferring within the league.

Schools have drawn criticism for preventing a student-athlete from transferring to a program that better suits them, either academically or in their chosen sport. "Redshirt football student-athletes are more likely to remain engaged with the team, and starters will be less likely to feel pressure to play through injuries", Division I Council chair Blake James said. "Coaches will appreciate the additional flexibility and ability to give younger players an opportunity to participate in limited competition".

Per NCAA.org's Michelle Brutlag Hosick, the Division I Council approved a new "notification-of-transfer " rule that requires schools to enter a student who wishes to transfer into the national transfer database. The NCAA also adopted a new policy this week that prevents schools from telling student-athletes where they can and can't transfer to.

Massive Dust Storm Threatens Mars Rover
When the storm was first detected , NASA notified the rover's team to take proactive measures and protect Opportunity from storm. It increased the atmospheric opacity in the region, creating a smog-like situation where most of the sunlight gets blocked out.

The previous transfer rule, which required student-athletes to get permission from their current school to contact another school before they can receive a scholarship after transfer, was meant to discourage coaches from recruiting student-athletes from other Division I schools. A proposal was originally presented to the D-I Council in April, but tabled to allow conferences to provide feedback from spring meetings.

Much of the talk about transfers focuses on the so-called year-in-residence, the one year a player in the most high-profile sports such as football and basketball must sit out after switching schools.

If another school tampers with student-athlete, it could be a Level 2 violation. If he played in one more game, he would not have been eligible for a medical redshirt.

Adviser apologizes for 'place in hell' comment
From a big-picture perspective, there are concerns about how the rest of the world sees the United States globally, he added. Trudeau had criticized Trump for the new tariffs and vowed that Canadians "will not be pushed around".
