Roger Stone Admits Meeting With Russian Who Promised Damaging Clinton Info

WaPo Roger Stone met with Russian in 2016

The meeting was set up by Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo and was previously unreported. "You don't understand Donald Trump", Stone said he told the man.

Stone replied that Greenberg wanted "big" money for the information and called it a "waste of time".

"His face fell like a cake", Caputo said about the moment when he offered up his brief contact with Greenberg. "He doesn't pay for anything". Caputo texted Stone following the 2016 meeting, according to text messages reviewed by the Post.

The meeting has come under scrutiny as part of the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 United States presidential campaign, and whether the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin. "The two events investigators will be tying together are the Stone-Caputo-Ukraine "clandestine-Hillary-dirt-meeting conspiracy" and Manafort (whose right-hand man was Caputo pal Gates) offering an oligarch he met via Ukraine work 'private campaign briefings just weeks later".

Manchester City's 21-year-old striker was a surprise choice given the more experienced players on the pitch, but it is Tite's policy to spread the responsibility.

"Mr. Stone believes it is likely that Mr. Greenberg was actively working on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the time of their meeting with the intention of entrapping Mr". He later confirmed it, but claimed that he had not asked for money.

Though Stone said Greenberg came to the meeting alone, Greenberg told the Post he brought along a Ukrainian friend "identified only as Alexei", who claimed he had been fired from a job at the Clinton Foundation.

"How insane is the Russian?"

The Washington Post first reported Stone's new admission of his Russian contact - a contact he failed to mention in his sworn testimony because, he claims, he "forgot", according the Post report.

Incredibles 2 smashes animated-movie opening weekend record
The movie earned $51.5 million in other territories, for a total worldwide gross of $231.5 million. The film opened Friday nationwide.

Stone told The Post that he did disclose the meeting either, calling the meeting unimportant "due diligence" that would have been "political malpractice" not to explore. Stone's attorney, Stone told the Post, "has done the same". But now Stone is facing allegations that he was much more active in trying to get damaging information on Hillary Clinton from foreign nationals.

The Russians initially said they had dirt to offer on Clinton, which Team Trump said they never provided.

The FBI declined to comment, but has said its counterintelligence investigation didn't begin until July 2016, two months after the meeting.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a member of Trump's legal team, on Sunday dismissed the significance of the Stone meeting.

Trump’s 2020 campaign might include ex-Cambridge Analytica staff
However, Data Propria has secured a contract to perform work for the Republican National Committee. In May, as AP noted, Cambridge Analytica filed for bankruptcy and ceased all operations.

Several members of the campaign were also approached by another USA government informant in a possible bid to glean intelligence on Russian efforts to sway the race.
