Yoga A "Passport" To Fitness, Wellness, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performs yoga along with thousands of enthusiasts to mark International Day of Yoga in Dehradun

From politicians to celebrities to sportsman all took part in the Yoga day celebrations held across the country. Yoga is an ancient Indian tradition, but it doesn't belong to India alone.

India celebrated the International Day of Yoga on Thursday, officials said.

The Prime Minister's decision to celebrate International Yoga Day in Dehradun was warmly welcomed by the Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat, who said he hoped it would cement the state's status as a premier destination for yogis worldwide.

The practice emerged as a way of transcending this suffering.

Yoga includes stretching and bending of body besides doing breathing exercises aimed at transforming body and mind. As awareness about the need for a healthy lifestyle increases, youngsters as well as senior citizens are keen on following yoga.
