Astros option Ken Giles to Triple-A Fresno

HOUSTON TX- JULY 10 Manager AJ Hinch #14 of the Houston Astros takes the ball from Ken Giles #53 in the ninth inning against the Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park

A day after another blowup on the mound, the Astros have sent struggling closer Ken Giles to Triple-A Fresno.

Giles, the Houston Astros reliever, was brought into Tuesday's game against the Oakland A's in the ninth inning with a comfortable 4-0 lead. The television broadcast appeared to show Giles cursing at manager AJ Hinch as he was lifted.

England midfielder Henderson hopeful over fitness ahead of Croatia clash
Another stellar display came on Saturday to help Gareth Southgate's side overcome Sweden and reach their first World Cup semi-final for 28 years.

The Houston Astros won Tuesday's game against the A's in ridiculous fashion, but it wasn't all smiles for the AL West leaders.

It wasn't Giles first outburst this season. "He was pretty mad in the dugout". That stuff happens in the heat of battle. He can let me know if it was directed at me. You can certainly understand I'll address it.

China: Tit-for-tat tariffs will ‘destroy’ US-China trade
Trade rhetoric has been escalating between the US and the rest of the world, including key American allies. Each side is mulling tariffs on a further $16 billion in goods that would bring the totals to $50 billion.

The demotion comes as Giles' poor season continues. He would go on to allow both of the inherited runners (plus another batter) to score, tying the game at 4 all. He punched himself in the face after another bad outing.

Come Wednesday, Giles was no longer on the big-league club. The game was ultimately tied and the Astros lost in extra innings. He has allowed 17 runs all season in 34 appearances.
