Iran Touts Russia's Plan to Invest in Its Oil With Sanctions Looming

Hassan Rouhani said that US is increasingly isolated in its move to reimpose sanctions on Tehran

Earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appeared to threaten to disrupt oil shipments from its neighbors if Washington pressed ahead with trying to force countries to stop buying Iranian oil.

"The government pledges to the people that there will be no problems for the country in terms of energy, transportation, basic goods and production", Rouhani said.

The Iranian nation resisted the USA and its policy of pressure 40 years ago during the 1979 Islamic revolution and finally achieved victory, Rouhani said on July 14 after a meeting with Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani in Tehran, Iranian media reported.

"What the United States wants to do is more of psychological influence", he said.

Donald Trump Says America's 'Biggest Foe' Is the European Union
You can see more of Jeff Glor's conversation with President Trump on Monday night's CBS Evening News. I've been told that by a number of people, we had much better defenses, so they couldn't.

"Today, the United States is isolated more than any other country on sanctions".

"That the US cares about Iranians, and medication aren't on the sanction list is a lie because the financial sanctions will damage everyone including an ordinary citizen or a newborn baby", he said.

Rohani's statements came a day after Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a veteran member of Iran's political establishment, rejected Trump's suggestion that Iran seek a deal with the United States to ease the economic "pain" of the looming sanctions.

India's media have reported that the country has given the go-ahead to a plan to revive a banking mechanism that would allow payments to Iran for oil purchases as well as other trade activities. "We have no doubt that the United States can not continue the path and policy that it has taken regarding the Islamic world and its allies", he added.
