Microsoft's Surface Go tablet ready to do battle with iPad

Microsoft Surface lineup

Both adapters are expensive for their purposes, but they come with the Microsoft Surface branding.

The rest of the specifications include a Windows Hello IR camera, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, both capable of recording 1080p video, single microphone, 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium, standard ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors, USB 3.1 Type-C Gen1 port, Surface Connect port, microSD card slot, and an unknown capacity battery that it's claimed will keep it alive for about nine hours of video playback.

We're learning that the Surface Go is up for pre-orders right now with shipments starting from August 2. There's also a built-in kickstand that can extend to 165 degrees. By paying $549, customers can get the 8GB RAM/128GB SSD variant of the tablet.

Apple Just Quietly Launched a Brand New MacBook Pro Laptop Lineup
Additionally, Kuo said Apple may release a new low-priced laptop, similar to the MacBook Air , but likely rebranded in a new way. Thunderbolt 3 via USB-C, support for up to two 5K displays or up to four external GPUs, and a sleek aluminum unibody design.

"Based around Windows 10 in S Mode, the successor to the since-abandoned Windows 10 S that sees the operating system locked down to only installing and running software sourced from the Microsoft Store, the Surface Go tablet features a 10" 3:2-format display with an 1,800 x 1200 resolution. If you prefer a bit more freedom, you can unlock full Windows for free in a couple of steps.

With this configuration, you can do all sorts of tablet-y things-watch Netflix in bed, take digital notes with the stylus ($100 more), etc. -and also get "real" work done, using apps such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Lightroom. The same goes for a high-end 256GB version of the tablet, too, although everything else is available for pre-order now. You'll have to pay extra for the keyboard, as you also will for the Surface Pen, neither of which come bundled with the tablet.

Microsoft officials have said previously that backward compatibility is key to its Surface strategy.

Pyongyang refuses to show up at war remains talks
North Korea's failure to show up to the meeting follows a tempestuous week in the ongoing denuclearization talks with Washington. The news agency noted that the request followed North Koreans not showing up to the meeting with USA representatives.

That's on August 2 in the US, August 23 in the United Kingdom, and August 27 in Australia.

What do you think about the Surface Go tablet? Does it look more tempting than an iPad?
