Trump Dings ‘Ex-FBI LAYER' Lisa Page for Skipping House Subpoena

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page subpoenaed by House panel for private interview

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan didn't hold back while discussing anti-Trump FBI lawyer Lisa Page Wednesday; threatening to hold the DOJ official in "contempt of Congress" should she fail to testify before Congressional leaders.

Though Strzok and Page's texts are now the stuff of legend, Page's lawyer said that she is defying the subpoena because she didn't have the chance to review the documents presented to Congress, including those texts, CNN reports.

"We will use all tools at our disposal to obtain her testimony", Goodlatte said. She has an obligation to come and testify. If she wants to come plead the Fifth that's her choice, but a subpoena to testify before Congress is not optional, it's mandatory.

"We will do what we need to do to protect this branch of government".

Trump slammed them as he was in route to Belgium for a meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders, mocking them on Tuesday for getting "cold feet" about testifying before Congress.

The summary said Republicans asked questions like, "I don't mean to embarrass you, but is Lisa Page someone that you do or at some point in time did love?" and, "So what I'm trying to establish through all of that is, was Lisa Page someone that you cared about deeply at the time you were sending these messages?"

Strzok and Page both worked under former FBI Director James Comey during the FBI's investigation of Clinton's emails.

The top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), suggested Wednesday that "the real reason" Republicans were weighing contempt measures against Page was to "set up a dramatic thing" before Strzok's public interview Thursday.

Mueller, a registered Republican who was appointed by Republican deputy attorney general Rob Rosenstein to investigate.

Strzok had a leading role in the Clinton probe and was removed from the Mueller investigation after the texts were discovered a year ago.

The two officials had frequently exchanged anti-Trump text messages, including one vowing to "stop" Trump from becoming president. Right?!' Page texted Strzok. Page left it voluntarily shortly after she joined the team and eventually left the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The committees have focused much of their ire on Strzok, who was interviewed privately by lawmakers on the two committees for 11 hours last month.
