U.S., North Korea to resume search for remains from Korean War

Trump Releases ‘Very Nice’ Letter From Kim Jong Un

At the Singapore summit, Kim Jong Un made a broad commitment to "work toward denuclearization", but fell short of details on how or when he would dismantle North Korea's nuclear program, which it has pursued in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

Speaking afterwards in Tokyo, Pompeo insisted the talks were making progress and were being conducted in "good faith".

Pompeo met with Kim's key aide during his latest trip to Pyongyang but as soon as he left, the North's foreign ministry berated him over his "unilateral and gangster-like" demands.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said that amnesty will be granted to those who were convicted of crimes against the country and people on the occasion of the North's 70th founding anniversary.

According to documents seen by AFP, the United States sent a report to the UN sanctions committee that estimated at least 759,793 barrels of oil products had been delivered to North Korea between January 1 and May 30, well above the annual quota set at 500,000 barrels under a sanctions resolution adopted in December.

And while this is a sweet gesture from a man who misses his child, I WISH he'd stop harping on to the press about it. In fact, she also says that Meghan is "as cliched and colonized as the most mahogany-hued bimbo on Love Island ".

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, about 7,700 USA troops are still listed as missing from the Korean War, and about 5,300 of that total are believed to have fallen in North Korea.

Additionally, The Diplomat magazine exclusively reported on Friday that it hadlocated a covert North Korean uranium enrichment facility - known as Kangson - in the immediate vicinity of Pyongyang.

Since then, the North Koreans and the US have struggled to make progress.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Sunday that the United States and North Korea agreed to recommence field operations to search for the estimated 5,300 Americans who never returned home from the Korean War.

Returning the remains was part of the deal signed by Kim and Trump in Singapore.

The North did not show up at the border on Thursday but contacted the US on the same day to offer to meet on Sunday, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said last week, adding "We will be ready".

The U.S. top diplomat's move appears to underscore Washington's increasing suspicion that Pyongyang is covertly proceeding with activities that are contrary to denuclearization, despite its declared commitment to the goal.

Such "impure public opinion is just canard spread by naysayers on the dialogue within the US society which can secure their interests only when the status of war between the North and the USA and military tensions are maintained", the article read.

Pompeo said that working-level meetings would continue on Monday to discuss the next steps, including the actual transfer of the service members' remains from North Korea.
